Carbon Connections

Carbon Connections is an investment body funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. Launched in October 2006, in order to support organisations with innovative projects for carbon reduction, the programme has initial funding until March 2009 and links universities with industry encouraging knowledge exchange and developing innovative ideas.

Climate change affects us all and we need to act now to drastically reduce our carbon output. If you have an innovative idea for a new technology or behavioural change but need a little assistance to make it a reality then Carbon Connections may be able to help. Since the launch, we have developed a significant reputation for offering investment support for the development of ideas and the application of expertise.

Applications to Carbon Connections must meet the following criteria:

· Carbon Reduction - measurable reduction in carbon emissions during the project lifetime and beyond
· Innovation - in either technology or behavioural modification
· Partnership and Knowledge Transfer - partnership must include at least one UK HEI and at least one UK commercial organisation
· Sustainability of the Carbon Connections Fund - where returns are generated, Carbon Connections will expect a stake, to be reinvested, by Carbon Connections in future projects.
