Carbon Action Yorkshire

Carbon Action Yorkshire (CAY) is Yorkshire Forward’s programme to accelerate development of a low carbon economy in the region. A programme within the Yorkshire and Humber Sustainable Futures Company, it will bring together the private and public sectors to cost effectively reduce carbon emissions in line with national and regional targets. The programme will also work with its partners to stimulate the development and take up of low carbon products and services.

By working with partners towards achieving these regional targets, CAY aims to:

• secure carbon reduction commitments from the region’s major public and private sector organisations
• improve resource efficiency in partner organisations in a replicable manner
• work with partners to move the region towards a low carbon economy through the development of new low carbon products, services, technologies, energy generation facilities and the use of carbon markets.

In its initial phase CAY’s target audience will be the region’s top 100 companies and major public sector organisations.
