Carbon Action Yorkshire

Carbon Action Yorkshire (CAY) is a programme funded by Yorkshire Forward to engage with the largest and most strategically influential companies and organisations in Yorkshire and the Humber in a programme of carbon reduction measures aimed at moving the region towards a lower carbon economy. It aims to do this through the development of low carbon products, services, technologies, energy generation facilities and the use of carbon markets and to secure from its partners:

• a commitment to low carbon management
• action to meet carbon reduction commitments, and
• the opportunity to exploit the growth in low carbon markets.

CAY provides knowledge transfer and best practice from peer and cross-industrial organisations and draws on advice from around the world in both operational and strategic lower carbon developments.

The opportunities presented by a lower carbon economy are realised through new products and services as well as improvements to business efficiency. CAY, alongside Yorkshire Forward, will be a driver in setting regional frameworks for carbon trading and offsetting; we will also create longer-term infrastructure for carbon capture and sequestration.

Carbon Action Yorkshire is a programme within the Yorkshire & Humber Sustainable Futures Company, a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for the Yorkshire & Humber region.
