Resource Efficiency Yorkshire

Resource Efficiency Yorkshire (REY) is a £10 million programme funded by Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund. REY has been developed by Yorkshire Forward in partnership with key regional and national stakeholders to stimulate resource efficiency.

Over the next three years REY will deliver the programme of work with support from regional and national partners. It will enable regional businesses to realise the financial and competitive benefits of improved resource efficiency.

Improving resource efficiency presents businesses with opportunities to win new contracts, increase profits and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Businesses in Yorkshire and Humber could save £553m each year from low or no-cost resource efficiency improvements.

REY will:

• mainstream advice and support so that all businesses in the region have an opportunity to realise resource efficiency gains.
• identify priority regional business sectors which can reduce costs, become more competitive and win more business as a result of business resource efficiency improvements.
• target intensive support at environmental service providers such as recycling businesses and environmental consultants who will help businesses achieve the improvements.
