Interflush

A new water saving device called Interflush has been developed by Kirklees based firm Varyflush. The device, fitted onto an existing WC, allows individuals to stop the flush as soon as waste has been cleared. The invention could save an average household approximately 500 litres of water a week and more than £100 over a year, according to its creator.

Director David Wilks is the driving creative force and serial inventor behind Interflush. Fuelled by a passion for natural resource saving, Wilks a former technology and science teacher, wanted to create a practical, cost effective solution that would save water in every home in the country. He conceived the idea over a 12 year period, creating various designs before perfecting his invention. Wilks predicts that Interflush could save up to 500,000 million litres of water, 500 million KWh of electricity and 250,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide if the device were adopted broadly in the UK.

No stranger to fame, Wilks works tirelessly to raise awareness of Interflush. In a bid to raise funds for his invention he has even run the gauntlet with entrepreneur Peter Jones and other investors on the BBC's Dragons' Den. He has a wealth of other energy saving ideas up his sleeve that he plans to progress once Interflush has got off the ground.
